Waivers will be done a little like the major league level and a little different.
Waiver Claims
First off due to the fact that there is a 40 man roster with 30 of the players on ESPN and 10 of the players in "AAA", to shuffle players to and from the majors to the minors. Those players who have acquired at least 3 years of MLB experience can not go to the minors without going through waivers first. Someone like Albert Pujols would have to go through waivers before making it to the AAA ballclub. At that point anybody is free to claim the player. The player with the highest claiming priority (AKA the team lowest in the standings) will win the right to "claim the player" after 24 hours. At that point they have 24 hours to make a trade with the team of the player that is being sent down, if the trade deadline hasn't passed. If after 24 hours no trade has been made the team that waived the player can either rescind the waiver or they can allow the other team to absorb the player and the contract.
If a player is claimed and pulled back off of waivers they can not be placed on waivers again for the rest of the year. If this happens before the trade deadline, you will have one more chance to put the player on waivers AFTER the deadline.
For anyone with less than 3 years of experience you get "3 options" to send your players to the minors a year. If your player has run out of his options, he will have to be put on waivers like the rest of the players. If they are claimed they will not be able to be put on waivers for the rest of the year, after the deadline or not.
After a player makes it through waivers. The team now has an option. The team can release the player and pay 50 % of the contract for the rest of the life of the contract OR the team can just send the player to AAA where he can be called up at any time.
Upon being placed on waivers, a player can be immediately dropped from the 30 man roster and into the minor league system on Fantrax. Once a player has been passed through waivers, the owning team can decide to release him or keep him on the AAA roster, which is maintained on Google Sheets. If claimed, the original owner has 24 hours to rescind the player from waivers and place him back on the 30 man roster and re-pick him up on the Fantrax roster.
