Arbitration will be interesting in this league, and its a fun little caveat to really reward people who pick the right prospects and young players.
The best example is a young Noah Syndergaard, the following is his salary the next few years.
The last three years of his contract are arbitration available. For the purpose of this league we will be taking the first two years of arbitration. After that the player will be either a free agent or can be tagged as a restricted free agent.
For players that are Arb Eligible, we will use this site
www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/projected-arbitration-salaries-for-2015.html
This site is one of the most trusted sites in MLB when it comes to the projected status. In late October we will update the contracts page with these projected arbitration salaries. However, if a player agrees to a lesser salary than what the site lists, then the team owner can assume the loser arbitration salary. In order to do so, it is the responsibility of the team owner to post the player's new salary in the Arbitration Update thread on the Off Season board.
Example is Noah getting projected at 9.5 million for his first arbitration year. But then settling for 9 million. That's a half million in savings. The owner would then post the following in the Arbitration update
Subject: Noah Syndergaard
Syndergaard and the Mets agree to 9 million in arbitration
****POST A LINK TO THE SITE WHERE YOU FOUND THIS****
To get the savings you must post that link, the staff will not go looking for your players and their arbitration cases. Now IF they settle for an amount above the 9.5 projected, well do nothing... you get the savings!
Example: Noah settles for 10 mil, it was projected at 9.5, do nothing and you save .5 mil!
