I'm talking long term here. If his knee has a problem, that could be the while season lost. And maybe half of next season to get hs timing back. Can't catch anymore. He probably wouldn't be any use in the OF, defensively.

Yea, the Cubs will probably just cut him and he'll never play again. He'll be like Moonlight Graham
In all seriousness, if its a knee they will just hide him in the corner outfield when he comes back just like they did this year. His catching days were over anyways for the most part

I don't think it's a career killer, but it could be a huge impact.
Say it's serious. Time away from the game will hurt. And who knows if he will be able to play acceptable defense?
I'm just saying, if he hurt his knee to the point where the club is concerned, it could have a major impact on his career
