Minor Leaguers
Each minor Minor league players will cost .1m. Once they exceed rookie status, they will assume the min. $1m salary at the start of the NEXT season, unless the player is an international free agent that signed a major league deal. (Dian Toscano, Raisel Iglesias)
Minor leaguers that make .1m can be waived with zero buyout penalty
If a minor leaguer is called up the MLB it is not required that they have to be called up from the minors.
A player is eligible for a minor league status as long as they are still considered rookies/prospects by the MLB. As of 2018, the MLB standard is "A player shall be considered a rookie unless, during a previous season or seasons, he has (a) exceeded 130 at-bats or 50 innings pitched in the Major Leagues; or (b) accumulated more than 45 days on the active roster of a Major League club or clubs during the period of 25-player limit (excluding time in the military service and time on the disabled list)."

So just to clarify... if I promote Byung-ho Park I pay .1 mill this year and then starting next year I pay his 3 mill contract? And with Jose Peraza I pay .1 mill this year and 1 mill starting next year?

"unless the player is an international free agent that signed a major league deal."
Correct me if I'm wrong Eric, but for Park (and international players in general) I believe you have to pay his major league deal once he's on the major league roster.

" they will assume the min. $1m salary at the start of the NEXT season, unless the player is an international free agent that signed a major league deal"
to me that states that the 1 mill min is the unless part. Not the next season part. i understand I will have to pay his actual contract. but the way the rule is worded sounds like that means i pay .1 mill until next season at which point I'll begin paying his actual contract (3 mill in the case of Park). Rather than assume this though I wanted to make sure as obviously with both of us viewing the wording differently there is still some discrepancy

(Dian Toscano, Raisel Iglesias) Minor leaguers that make .1m can be waived with zero buyout penalty If a minor leaguer is called up the MLB it is not required that they have to be called up from the minors. BUT, the second that a player accrues over 120 ABs or 45 innings pitched they have to become an active member of the 40 man roster. They will then earn the league minimum of $1 million a year and the clock will begin on the arbitration. At the point of gaining 120 ABs or 45IP you will have 72 hours to move your minor leaguer to the active 40 man roster or they will be dropped into the minor league draft midway through the season and the beginning of the year. Just want to check in on this since we are adjusting our rosters for opening day. Three questions: 1. We can move the rookie to AAA, yes? 2. Do we -have- to move the rookie to AAA if we have under 40 active players, i.e. can he stay put in the minors but count towards the 40 man roster? Like in real baseball, if a guy is added to the 40 man roster but is still in the minors? 3. Are we going with 120 or 130 on the AB threshold?

You can move the rookie to AAA once he makes an appearance, but it is not mandatory until he reaches the threshold. 2. He can stay in the minors until he reaches the threshold, until then he doesn't count towards your 40 man unless he's on the major league club 3. 130 AB's and 45 IP
