Hi everyone,
I'm the replacement for Thunder's team. This is my first time playing a salary/dynasty league but I'm familiar with fantasy baseball. Eager to learn about contracts and play with y'all. 2 weeks till Opening Day!

So here's the deal everyone whenever a new manager joins we are going to give them the option of dropping a player. We did it during the draft and will do it now. Clutchy has elected to do something a little different which is drop the contract traded.
Which means the 19 mil to Bronx will still be there it will just be the 19 mil off the books to Trine. It's a little different but it seemed fair. Is anyone against that and please list your reason if you are against it. Thanks

I think the trade should be voided.... Now chris davis is now a 4 million dollar player.... Allow him to release chris davis and chris davis becomes a free agent... I bet he will go higher than 4 million a year.... I think thats only fair

IF the trade were to be voided he would go back to Thunders old team and get a full contract since he was drafted. But, the trade was accepted and approved, and we are not in the business of going and reneging deals. That would be completely unfair to Bombers who has done nothing wrong in this situation

If the deal is to allow a new manager to drop a player then let him drop a player, don't change the rule to say he can drop a contract but keep the player. Since Trine traded Chris Davis and is out 19, a new team needs to work around that. He can easily drop any other player worth more than 2 and draft 2 players at a cost of 1 each to reach the 30 team limit. It's not fair to the league if he is given the 19 back even though its a new owner. New owners take over teams in leagues like this all the time and they know there are erasons why the old manager is gone many of them because they screwed up their team.

We can't go back an undo a trade. Davis was basically a 4 million dollar player as far Bronx is concerned so let him drop the money. If Bronx wants to trade or release or whatever with Davis we can revisit this

This isn't a league like this though. This is this league, and the ruling has been drop a contract, and was the same during the draft when they took over those teams. So unless a majority are against it, and i honestly dont see what the big deal is except to have something to complain about, then it will be allowed.

Also part of the reason they are allowed to release a contract, is like you said the old manager screwed something up. We are not looking to punish new managers for what an old manager did, at the same time we dont want to give them a huge advantage. This is no different then when tjohn took over the team in the draft that had already spent over 100 mil in the first 8 rounds

Dropping part of a contract at this point sounds like the wrong thing to do......There has to be a better idea than screwing around with half a transaction.......

Why not just give him his pick of free agents available for only the cost of 1 for a 1 year salary and keep everything else the way it is.

The thing is this is a precedent that was started in the draft, and something we decided to do to help new managers coming in.

Nevermind, i read youre comment wrong. I apologize, i read it as sarcasm. How would they do that with 0.069 of salary left?

Dropping part of a contract at this point sounds like the wrong thing to do......There has to be a better idea than screwing around with half a transaction....... I'm sure there is, but thunder ran the team into the cap before he even filled the roster. The reasoning behind the decision is this: Clutchy gets 19M to fill the last roster spots, Davis becomes a 4M/yr player so the eliminates the debate of money following the player or the team (or at least it will in this scenario) Thunder had like what, 200k left? and Two spots to fill. He would've gone over the cap the first day of the season when Park was activated. If clutchy had to drop a player then she would have to fill even more roster spots. It just seemed like a simplest option at the time, but if there is this much backlash we could always hold a vote on it.

I guess if you look at it this way- Chris Davis will be a 4 mil player until his contract is up no matter what. So if we do not give the 19 cap space back to trine thunders new owner the only one being hurt is him. I guess I am ok with that looking at it this way.
