Anyone else shocked that Giolito got traded for an average guy like Eaton? I mean, Giolito got the *hype*. I saw him going last year as the first prospect drafted in re-draft leagues, and untouchable in keeper leagues. How could he fall so far so fast? People say Eaton's contract is so desirable, but what could be more desirable than *3* prearb contracts? And Lopez is ready, and Dunning is a legit prospect. Eaton is a good player but I can think of 25 outfielders I'd take before him. And he really is at his peak at this point. Either the Nats have no faith in their prospects or they got seriously taken.

I think the defense and on base skills are what the Nats were high on. Still surprised by the return though. The White Sox system got replenished quickly.

It was need I think. Chicago knew Washington needed an outfielder who can stay healthy, get on base, some pop, and not cost a ton of money. And Chicago wasn't giving up Eaton unless they got certain prospects

Keep in mind that Dexter Fowler is a free agent and projected to sign for around 15m/year. Eaton is going to average 8+m/year. Why not just sign Fowler and keep all 3 of your pitching prospects? Nats just sold 3 prospects to save 7m/year. That would never happen here!
