Never mind, I think I might actually somewhat understand it now.
Still confused about these though: With 1 and 2 year deals we are allowed to do the 1 increment since there are no bid points?
Also, what happens if someone bids 3 years and you want to bid 1 or 2 years?

You can still bid it, your bid points just get no multiplying offer. So if someone bid points equaled 3.1 you could just bid 4 mil for 1 year... now you are a bid point of 4.

There likely won't be many people going for 3 years at sub $5M per year anyways. Look at how many MLB contracts exist like that right now. It might be common for relievers, but not for any players guaranteed regular work.

So realistically, I could bid 3.4 mill for 1 or 2 years in the example above?

So realistically, I could bid 3.4 mill for 1 or 2 years in the example above? Yea. There's no maximum, just a minimum. You could bid 1 year 10 million if you really wanted to

So we really only took care of small incrementals on 3-5 year bids?

Listen we can tweak the part between 1-2 years, this was taken in help with another commish that I am in two leagues with. This was what he used, we never had any problems. We can easily make it
2 years 1.1 3 years 1.2 4 years 1.3 5 years 1.4
Just trying not to get the point that rewards everyone to go with a 5 year deal each time was the understanding behind his rationale.

The bid point structure is not leaving though, it took people one free agency to get used to it, and now the system has been excellent.

No I completely understand why especially after the last few free agency periods with the other league. It just took me a while to truly figure out this system. I don't think we need to tweak 1-2 year bids. If a player is going for 3 or 4 years most likely someone is not going to bid a 1 or 2 year contract anyways. I was just playing devil's advocate so we knew the game plan before we got deep into a situation

Not sure if we are going straight to free agency or MILB draft, but I still don't have access to ESPN league. Just wanted to make sure I get it with enough time to look through all the free agents. Thanks.

Thanks. ESPN will be fully updated this afternoon after I get off work. Once I finalize the offline draft I will be able the add you
