Get over to the Free Agency thread! Two nominations per team! You can bid on as many as you want, but only nominating TWO!!!
Check out the Contracts page and then Calculator for an easy bid calculator
Here are the rules again for everyone!
The Offseason Free Agency will occur at the conclusion of the draft and lasts until the start of the season. Each team can post 2 players per week to be bid upon. The highest bid after 24 hours wins the player. Prospects/ international free agents that signed minor league contracts and have not made their major league debut cannot be posted during this time. EX: Albert Pujols went undrafted because of his contract. He can now be posted and bid upon. The contract that is won in FA bidding is the contract that Pujols will assume. His real life contract, in this case, will not come into play.
In-Season Free Agency will occur exactly the same way with one difference. Players that are called up to the Majors in real life will be eligible to be bid upon.
Bidding will occur in the FA thread. Create a thread and post the player that you want to bid on. Name the thread the players name followed by the team and main position in parenthesis.
Example: Albert Pujols (LAA-1B)
When a bid stands unchallenged for 24 hours, the player is awarded to the team with the highest bid. Once you win a player, you have 48 hours to restructure his contract. At no point in the contract can the AAV deviate 30%.
Example: Shelbyville have the highest bid for Dale Murphy at 3 years $30M ($10M AAV). Shelbyville can restructure the contract as such: 2015: $7M, 2016: $10M 2017: $13M. Failure to do this in the 48 hour window results in the AAV spread evenly.
ONCE A PLAYER IS WON, YOU HAVE 48 HOURS TO PICK HIM UP ON ESPN. FAILURE TO DO SO RESULTS IN THE PLAYER BEING AWARDED TO THE SECOND HIGHEST BIDDER. IF THERE IS NO SECOND HIGHEST BIDDER, THE PLAYER BECOMES A FA.
Bid Points
This is going to be a little confusing at first but TRUST me it goes a LONGGGGGGG way in helping to keep what is fair between 3 year contracts and 5 year contracts
Any bid of 1-2 years has no bonus attached
2 years: (multiply AAV by 1.1)
3 years: (multiply AAV by 1.2)
4 years: (multiply AAV by 1.3)
5 years: (multiply AAV by 1.4)
Each bid must top the previous Bid points by 15%
For example:
Shelbyville bid on Yoenis Cespedes
3 years
$1m
BP: 1.1
In order to beat this bid, the bid points must exceed 15% of previous bids
Years and Salary
Bids must also follow this format
1 year Start at 1 mil per year
2 years Start at 2 mil per year
3 years Start at 3 mil per year
4 years Start at 5 mil per year
5 years Start at 10 mil per year
Basically this is so no one goes out there and throws down 5 years 1 mil each year. No contracts over 5 years are allowed to be given out. I mean in all seriousness you could keep RFAing the same guy and basically keep him forever so they really are not even needed.
